1. What is Radiography?
Radiography is the most used medical imaging method; in the German Diagnostic Center, radiological investigations are possible due to Siemens Axiom Iconos R100 device.
     Unlike other modern radiological equipment, Siemens Axiom Iconos R100 provides high image quality obtained in a significantly reduced examination time of exposure to X-rays and that due to sophisticated programs and sets of ultramodern clinical applications used by specialists of the German Diagnostic Center.
     Moreover, Siemens Axiom Iconos R100 has a mobile X-ray table, both in longitudinal and in transversal plane, allowing examination of multiple regions of the human body within a single research, a great advantage especially for patients confined to bed.
     Often, during X-ray investigations contrast is used, an iodine-based substance that allows better visualization of the investigated organ function. The contrast substance is administered especially for correct diagnosis of urinary system diseases. The contrast can absorb or scatter X-rays and, together with real-time X-ray examination, even the blood flow within the analyzed organ can be seen.
     Axiom Iconos R100 allows performing a large number of X-ray investigations at the highest quality level and is extremely useful in the following cases:
1. LUNGS DISEASES –can easily detect tuberculosis and the degree of damage to the lungs, pneumonia, tumors at their level, etc.;
2. FRACTURES AND BONY BODIES, INCLUDING OF THE SPINE – they can be visualized before and after appropriate treatment;
3. KIDNEY OR UROGENITAL SYSTEM DISEASES - possible trauma of the urinary system can be detected, morphology and urinary system functioning can be visualized, due to intravenous urography investigation.
     With the help of a well developed information system and an extraordinary BARCO monitor with a 5 MPi resolution , the radiologist can adjust the image obtained after the investigation to the due requirements, so there is no need for a second or third exposure to X-rays like in many national hospitals.
     The results will be ready within one hour after the investigation. The result will be issued on a special film and on electronic media (CD). In case of medical emergency, the analysis results are sent via e-mail.
     The main advantage of digital X-ray investigation is the decrease by 90% of the radiation level as compared to conventional classic radiology.

HISTORY OF RADIOGRAPHY
     Radiography as diagnostic method was firstly used in 1895 by the German physicist Wilhelm Rontgen, once X-rays (Rontgen rays) had been discovered. In 1901 the scientist was awarded the Nobel Prize for this discovery. A revolutionary step in the development of radiography and, in particular, fluoroscopy, dates from the 50s of last century, when amplifiers picture and TV cameras have appeared, which has improved image quality, its storage in the computer memory or CD. However, the greatest achievement in the field was the decrease of the irradiation dose.
