About Mammography

Mammography is the special X-ray examination of mammary glands, which is done on the bilateral level in two incidences, eventually and in the supplementary incidence and from the point of view of irradiation does not present any risk for the patient.  By the age 35 years it is recommended that women do such breast radiography at least 1 time per year. You should not have any special knowledge or anterior preparation in order to do the mammography because of the equipment adaptability to the physiology of the breast and the short instruction, which your doctor will give before the mammography. The mammography is done with the help of the device, named mammograph, the breast is compressed in order to receive necessary radiologic images that to detect the tumor in the incipient stage before the first signs and symptoms appear. It is the best disposable X-ray method at present which can detect the breast cancer precociously. In the Great Britain the women aged between 50 - 70 years are invited periodically to do mammography. The statistics show that every year over 1.400 lives are saved in this way.
